Meet the first 5-star hotel in Évora

One of Portugal’s most famous destinations, Évora, finally received its first 5-star hotel, Convento do Espinheiro. The city, which is located in the heart of Alentejo, owns a historical, cultural and architectural heritage that impresses and is now providing another reason to visit and discover its charms.

 

 

The Convento do Espinheiro Historic Hotel & Spa, built in the middle of 1412 is known as a national monument and is named after the legend that tells the apparition of the Our Lady of Fatima, in addition to having already been the headquarters for important kings and monks.

 

 

Now the establishment has luxurious facilities and complete services, which seek to provide its guests well-being, away from the daily worries. In total there are 92 rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, more than 8 hectares of garden, gym and plus five different areas between bars and restaurants.

 

To complete the experience the Convent has a spa with more than 50 treatments. So complete that already won the title of best SPA of Portugal in 2009 by the World Travel Awards and in 2018 by World Luxury Spa Awards. Hard not to fall in love with the hotel.

 

 

Wine lovers can try out the nectar from the wine collections produced in the renowned wine region at the establishment’s Winebar, located in a 15th century Gothic cistern.

 

In the gastronomic wing, guests can choose between the conventional bar, Claustrus Lounge, Pool Bar or the Italian restaurant Olive and Divinus, led by chef Jorge Peças. All options guarantee a complete experience, with different environments and types of cuisine, local to Mediterranean.
