Award-winning chef José Avillez opens new restaurant in Cascais

Good news! Award-winning chef José Avillez is opening his first restaurant in Cascais. Cantinho do Avillez, which is so successful in Chiado, Parque das Nações – both in Lisbon – and Porto, is finally arriving in the city. With dishes based on contemporary Portuguese cuisine, the establishment is an ode to Cascais. as well as reproducing in the dishes influences of the chef’s travel, it also adds the flavors that evoke the childhood of Avillez in the city.

Among the dishes that will be available in the new establishment are the Cantinho’s classics such as the vegetable fish, the veal for eat with a spoon and scallops with sweet potatoes.

But aside from fan favorites, new dishes will be on the menu, such as the duck pickled with cherries and the buck-away-on-horseback eggs with steak sauce and a hint of truffle. Combinations so rich that can leave anyone with mouthwatering.

For those who love a sweet, the option of “orange pie like when I was 10” is a sure request! This is the homage of José Avillez to his childhood in Cascais, because the pie was the dessert that he and his sister used to sell to their neighbors and relatives.

The design of the space is also inspired by Cascais and its proximity to the sea. The Cantinho has a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere with lots of natural light and predominant blue tint. The decoration has the signature of Studio Astolfi, by Joana Astolfi. With two floors and a small patio, the place is a delight!
